Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery says that he is hoping to be more successful in the Champions League than in the German Bundesliga.
The German outfit remain as one of the most successful in the history of the competition after having won the title four times. They are now just one short of Liverpool and a couple less than AC Milan. Unlike those two outfits, Bayern Munich are strong in the competition even now. They have come very close to winning the title quite a number of times in the last six years, but the only success was achieved in 2012.
Ribery was part of the team that managed to win the title in 2013. They have since come close to doing so under Pep Guardiola but without the final piece of luck.
However, the same cannot be said of the Bundesliga were Bayern Munich have been immensely successful especially in the last five years. After having watched rivals Borussia Dortmund claim victory in a couple of league campaigns during the start of the decade, Bayern woke up with a vengeance and have won the title four times in succession. As a result, there is a feeling of excessive sweetness amongst the Bayern faithful like Ribery. He says that the club has the potential to relive the treble under the regime of Carlo Ancelotti.
“We want to win everything. If I had to decide between Bundesliga and Champions League I would choose the Champions League, because it’s a bit more special, even if the Bundesliga is a great thing.I hope we will win all the titles this season. It’s not revenge. We made a good job at home [in the semi-finals last year] but we had no luck. Our group is not easy but we have to win every game, that’s important,” said Ribery.
