Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery says that he will remain at the German club for the rest of his European career. The Frenchman was heavily linked with a move to the Premier League a few years ago when he was in the prime of his career. He peaked last season after almost winning the FIFA Ballon d’Or award for the first time in his career.
Recently, the Frenchman spoke about the disappointment after having been very close to winning this title. Chelsea were one of the potential suitors about five years ago. In the last couple of years, transfer speculation surrounding Ribery has dramatically reduced.
However, it has always been mentioned that Ribery might return to French football with the likes of Paris St Germain. The 31-year-old has ruled out such a possibility they saying that he wants to stay at Bayern for as long as he is in European football.
This would suggest that Ribery may look at the possibility of playing in the MLS or Middle East at the end of his career. The Frenchman has also praised the way manager Pep Guardiola has been able to maintain the intensity at Bayern Munich despite winning the league title comfortably last season. Bayern have close to a 10 point advantage in the league this season.
“There will not be another club after Bayern. I don’t want to go to another club in the future.Perhaps I might go for a completely different experience and play in the USA or Dubai for one season. But I will never play for another club than Bayern again in Europe. I have too much respect for the club and for everything they have done for me.He is without a doubt the best coach I have ever had. I have never met a trainer who knows so much about the game. The level of detail he can go into,” said Ribery.
